This is a great collection of images. The reason I bought this book was for inspiration for photography. What this book does provide are, beautiful women, well done shots, solid book construction and depictions of thought provoking situations. The reason I give four out of five stars is because the images blur the line between artfull nudes and pornagraphic depictions, directly and implied. If you take into consideration my intent for the book, this might not be an issue for you. There are also a few depictions of homosexuality. While it didn't influence my rating, it may influence your purchase. Altogether this is a great collection of photographs and a great value.
Ever wanted to know what goes on behind the scenes on a dirty kinky french porn set or wanted to see the stuff you don't see everyday and probably won't want to see again. Well this is a safe way to view the other side without stepping over or even confronting the reality. Looking at this you wonder what these girls are thinking and then again it is proof that in this world there is a place for all types. The guy clearly sleeps with his models and they are less than half his age. If you know what up-skirt or fetish is you know what you will find here. Feet are licked, sweat is sweated and it is all caught on camera like reality TV and just as fake.
Roy Stuart has a very particular style. It is often slick, realistic, and movie like. I am surprised this book doesn't have more good reviews. Its got some very kinky photos but most are just very sexy European girls with hair on their pubes and armpits (a rare and wonderful thing these days in nude photo books or porn) nothing outrageous, just a normal amount of hair. Legs are nice and slick looking, shaved. And Lots of Legs! Probably because many of the photos come from shoots intended for publishing in Leg Show magazine, back when it was good. Lots of voyeuristic, lots of S&M (but not too violent and mostly simple submission domination type stuff), lots of role playing, public nudity, peeing in the streets of Paris and in dark alleys, sexiness at the gym, old/young, leg and foot worshiping, some boyish looking girls and a minute amount of homosexual behavior. There are several editions of this book which have different photos on the cover, so look around for the least expensive. Personally I like his first 3 volumes much more than the 4th and 5th where the style clearly changes, and gets more conventional, and bla bla boring. And not to mention his failed attempts at film making, there is a huge difference between still photos and video/film making my friend! With a redundant amount of bland boring sexy/nude photo books out there now Stuarts first 3 volumes are all equally great and unique. So get them and enjoy!
I purchased this book on the strength of the many strong reviews of Stuarts books. I have only seen this one Roy Stuart book, but if it is indicative of his other work, I can only ask, "what are you people thinking!"Let me start by saying that much of the book is aimed at various fetishes, none of the ones represented here particularly interest me, though I have seen many interesting photos by other fetish photographers (I do have to say that I have never been able to find any erotic appeal in women urinating, a kink that is heavily represented here.)The book is made up of a series of narrative photo essays, interspersed with single stand alone pictures. This is a format that has worked well for many photographers. That is not the case here, for several reasons.The narratives as presented in this book mostly come off as a random jumble of pictures that just happen to have been taken at the same photo session, often jumping around in time and space. At times it appears that Stuart (or his editors)could not make up their mind which variation of a particular idea was best, so they used them both. At other times it appears as though a roll of film has gone missing, resulting in a hole in the story. Then there is the white panties up skirt section, that was apparently put in for 12 year old boys who might be confuse by what is going on in the rest of the book. This section consists of a random group of photos of young women on public streets, with their underpants exposed by various contrived misadventures. The series ends with an out of nowhere foot fetish shot,resulting in a visual mixed metaphor. As to the quality of the photos, a naked woman with her legs spread wide (regardless of how beautiful)isn't necessarily a good nude or even a particularly erotic photograph. Any photograph no matter what the subject requires several elements in order to be successful. Subject matter,I believe is a matter of personal taste. I would even concede to the possibility that I might find a beautifully done photo of a woman urinating to be erotically pleasing (see above). The other elements of a good photograph, Strong composition and interesting lighting seem for the most part to have not been considered relevant by the photographer. Admittedly the book was conceived for the voyeur,and as such it could be argued that the intent was a photo-journalistic look but the majority of the pictures here look like they were taken by someone who was more interested showing the pu**y than making the woman look appealing. It is possible to make an extremely graphic picture also extremely beautiful. Unfortunately that was not done here. In the end, I think a good editor could make a very decent 15 to 20 page book out of this material. To me looking at a book of second rate erotic photographs is like trying to make love to a woman who just lays there, but then i'm not into necrophilia either.
